First SAE Visit
First my first SAE visit I headed just down the road from the school to the local Renco Ace Hardware to check in on Abby Yoder. Abby is currently serving as Central Columbia's FFA Chapter President. She has been an active member of the chapter for the past four years competing in various career development events including being selected as a creed speaking finalist her freshman year. She has high hopes to continue her FFA career serving as a Pennsylvania State FFA officer next year.
Abby has been completing her SAE at Renco Ace Hardware for over a year keeping detailed accurate records through her AET record book. It's her constant involvement and strong record skills that helped her receive the Pennsylvania State Star in Ag Placement this year at mid-winter convention. At Renco Abby completes various tasks from stocking shelves, customer service, and her latest task cutting keys. Prior to visiting Abby I discussed with her what goals she has for her position, she mentioned she is working towards obtaining a raise and continuing to gain experience of the various departments that the store offers. I was impressed by Abby's willingness to learn and help out wherever she can. Based on my visit the only recommendation to Abby's SAE program is to continue to look for areas to advancement, potentially working towards a management position.
Students in the Central Columbia FFA program have an SAE course in there gradebook system that is updated based on a variety of criteria. Students are overall graded on quality and completeness. In addition, students are expected to be making and reaching goals, continuing to improve their programs.
